Riverside Township is now open for final 2022 Property Tax Appeals with the Cook County Board of Review. The deadline to appeal your property taxes is December 20, 2022 at 5:00 pm. Begin your appeal online here: https://www.cookcountyboardofreview.com/
This is the final appeal opportunity for taxes payable in 2023. If the assessed value of your property was significantly reduced from an appeal in 2020 or 2021, there may be no further need to appeal.
Reasons to file an appeal:
- Lack of uniformity – Your property is assessed higher than other properties in your neighborhood of similar size, style, and construction.
- Market value – The Assessor’s stated market value is higher than the property’s actual market value if the property was purchased after January 1, 2019.
- Error in description of property – Such as incorrect square feet of living space.
- Uninhabitable – Your property was uninhabitable for all, or part, of the year due to fire, flood, or interior demolition.
