The Riverside Township office can register United States citizens to vote. The voter registration applicant must:

• be 18 years old on or before the next general election
• be a citizen of the United States on the day of registration (there is no waiting period once a person becomes a citizen)
• reside at the address of registration at least 30 days prior to Election Day
• display two (2) pieces of identification (one piece must have a current address; neither needs to be a picture ID)
• appear in person to sign the oath of registration

Acceptable forms of identification are as follows:

• Illinois Driver’s license
• Employee or student ID
• Illinois State ID
• Credit card
• Social Security card
• Birth certificate
• Valid U.S.A passport
• Utility bill in the applicant’s name
• Mail postmarked to the applicant
• Public Aid ID card

Important note: In Illinois, individuals convicted of crimes and currently serving their sentences in a penal institution cannot vote. People awaiting trial in a penal institution or persons on parole or probation are still eligible to vote.

There is no charge for this service at the Township Office and it is recommended to call ahead of time to ensure the availability of the registrar. This service is available:

Monday: 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
Tuesday: 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
Wednesday: 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
Thursday: 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
Friday: 9:00 am – 2:30 pm
