Riverside Township is now open for 2026 Board of Review Appeals. The deadline to file an appeal is September 1, 2026 by 11:59 pm.
The Township Assessor’s Office will be hosting 2 community outreach events with the Cook County Board of Review:
- Monday, August 17, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Riverside Town Hall, 27 Riverside Road. VIEW FLYER

Our Goal
The Riverside Township Assessor’s Office, operating independently of the main Riverside Township Office, acts as a taxpayer advocate for local residents in the Cook County property tax system. Our goal is to ensure taxpayer properties are fairly and accurately assessed. Our job is to provide assistance and educate taxpayers as they navigate the property tax system. With almost 1.8 million parcels in Cook County, assessments are determined triennially through a mass appraisal system by the Cook County Assessor. Riverside Township contains about 6,457 of those parcels.

Taxpayers should call the Township Assessor’s Office to schedule in-person appointments. Additionally, assistance not requiring an appointment may be requested through email. The office is located on the 3rd floor of the Riverside Town Hall building. There is an elevator for those needing assistance.

Services
The Riverside Township Assessor’s Office provides the following tax-related services:
- Analysis/Estimates of property taxes for prospective new homeowners, realtors, and attorneys.
- Appeals – It is recommended that taxpayers review their property assessments annually. The Assessor will assist with assessed valuation complaints with the Cook County Assessor, Cook County Board of Review and Illinois Property Tax Appeals Board. Appeals may be done annually.
- Exemption Applications – Exemptions for disability, homeowner, low-income senior, senior, and veteran exemptions may be applied for through the Township Assessor’s Office. We also assist with Certificates of Error for missing exemptions.
- Other – Additionally, the office can assist with applications for divisions and consolidation of properties, deed information, legal descriptions, permit information, and sales data.
- Outreach and Seminars – We offer informational property tax seminars on timely issues.
- Property Tax Bills – We can assist with duplicate property tax bills, property tax bill estimates, refund applications, as well as with name and address changes on property tax bills.
