The Presidential Election is less than a month away, but in the meantime, there are a few ways for Riverside Township residents to vote early instead of showing up to a polling place on Election Day. With the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, residents are urged to vote early or vote by mail in order to minimize contact with others, in an effort to stay as healthy and safe as possible.
Early Voting in suburban Cook County begins on Monday, October 19th, and runs until Monday, November 2nd. The two closest Early Voting locations to Riverside Township are:
Brookfield Village Hall
8820 Brookfield Ave.
Brookfield, IL 60513
(708) 485-7344
_____
Lyons Village Hall
4200 Lawndale Ave.
Lyons, IL 60534
(708) 442-4500
Hours for Early Voting are: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 7 pm and Saturday & Sunday, from 9 am – 5 pm. For a complete list of Early Voting locations, please visit the Cook County Clerk’s website here: https://www.cookcountyclerk. com/service/early-voting- locations
If one does not wish to vote early by visiting one of the above locations, Vote by Mail is another option for Township residents. Applications for mail ballots (not the ballot itself) are available at the Township Office or you can apply online for one here: https://www.cookcountyclerk. com/agency/vote-mail. Physical mail ballot applications must be returned to the Cook County Clerk’s Office at the address printed on the application, and the deadline to request a mail ballot is Thursday, October 29th. Cook County must receive your request for a ballot by then, and once they do, they will mail you the actual ballot. Completed mail ballots can be mailed back in the included, pre-paid postage envelope, or dropped off in a secure Ballot Drop Box. Drop boxes will be located at every Early Voting site and will be checked daily. If you plan to vote by mail, please allow for sufficient time for your ballot application, or the ballot itself, to be received by Cook County. Do NOT wait until the last minute.
Election Day itself is Tuesday, November 3rd and voting hours are from 6 am – 7 pm. If you choose to vote in person on Election Day, it is best that you know your polling location and precinct beforehand. Residents can check their voter status and polling location by using the Voter Information tool on the Cook County Clerk’s website here: https://www.cookcountyclerk. com/service/your-voter- information
