March 12, 2020 (Riverside, IL) – On Election Day [March 17, 2020], while the polls are open, we will have staff available at all times in order to assist in the transport to the 2nd floor. For those who need the use of an elevator, we do ask that those who are able-bodied, please use the stairs if possible. While the elevator in the Riverside Town Hall is functional, we have not been leaving it operational when there is no staff present because it is temperamental, and we do not want a rider to panic.
Our staff have been assisting those who need an elevator for several weeks and will do so on election day. If you still are concerned, then early voting is an option at accessible locations such as:
- Brookfield Village Hall – 8820 Brookfield Ave., Brookfield, lL
- Stickney-Forest View Library District, 6800 w.43rd, Stickney, IL
In the long term, the elevator modernization project is in the “parts-ordering’ phase, and we are awaiting word on more specific dates when the elevator will be totally out of service for the actual construction. Stay tuned.
